Biography
James is an academic cardiologist at the University of Cambridge and an honorary consultant at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. His research interests range from using imaging of the heart and blood vessels to test the efficacy of new drugs to research based on electronic healthcare records aimed at predicting risk of hospital admission.
James has a wide range of research collaborations, including with the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and the Judge Institute (all in Cambridge) with links further afield in Edinburgh and New York. He is passionate about science communication and hosts the bi-weekly BMJ Heart podcast (https://heartbmj.podbean.com/), where he interviews guests about all aspects of cardiovascular medicine. In 2017, he was a British Science Association Media Fellow at The Guardian where he worked as a science journalist over the summer (https://www.theguardian.com/profile/james-rudd).
